Começou a maior e mais antiga competição do mundo: a FA Cup, a principal Copa da Inglaterra. Na primeira fase, que é chamada de Fase Extra Preliminar, nada menos que 368 clubes da 9ª e 10ª divisões do Inglês participam. O regulamento é simples: vitória vale classificação e, caso haja empate, terá a partida de volta, o "replay", na casa do adversário, persistindo o empate, prorrogação e pênaltis.
A primeira edição foi na temporada 1871-72 e tinha apenas 15 times na disputa, diferente dos 736 times da temporada 2014-15, englobando todas as dez primeira divisões do complexo Campeonato Inglês. O Wanderers levou a primeira e a segunda edição, além de um tricampeonato três temporadas depois. Os maiores campeões, no entanto, são o Manchester United e o Arsenal, atual campeão da competição em 2013-14.
Nesta temporada, que começou na última sexta-feira (15), diversas equipes não precisaram do replay e passaram para a Fase Preliminar, com destaque para o Molesey, que goleou por 11 a 0, e o Colleshill Town, que fez 10 a 0. A fase seguinte será disputada no fim do mês.
